R.I.T.E. Overview
R.I.T.E. is an acronym for Repairing Instruments Training & Education. This program is MSA's certified maintenance and repair training program for Portable Instruments. It is designed for MSA Channel Partners or large end user owners who need to be able to repair and maintain MSA portable instruments and related equipment.
The R.I.T.E. training program is intended for technicians who will be repairing, inspecting and testing portable instruments on a regular basis.
Registration for this program requires prior approval from MSA sales and service management
Class Requirements
MSA R.I.T.E. PORTABLE INSTRUMENT SERVICE CENTER REQUIREMENTS
MSA R.I.T.E. Centers must receive authorization from MSA’s Regional and Corporate management and must comply with the following requirements:
- Provide facilities, equipment and competent personnel to meet MSA service standards.
- Each service center must have at least one service technician successfully complete the MSA R.I.T.E. repair training course under the instruction of an MSA factory instructor.
- Service center must purchase the required test equipment and tools prior to class attendance.
- Agree to maintain at least one MSA trained certified technician at each service center location whose primary function is service.
- Agree to have each service technician attend recertification training at least once every 3 years
- Agree not to employ sub-agents or subcontractors for the purpose of providing service on MSA portable instrument products
- The Service Center complies with MSA’s procedures and recommendations
- MSA Manuals and support materials are kept current.
- Maintenance and repair questions are communicated to MSA for resolution.
- MSA is notified immediately of any changes regarding the ability of the Service Center to meet its obligations as an MSA authorized service center. (For example if the trained technician leaves)
- Agree to comply with the terms of the MSA Authorized Service Center for Portable Instruments (R.I.T.E.) agreement.
The above requirements will apply to the addition of any new MSA R.I.T.E. service center locations by a parent organization of an existing MSA R.I.T.E. service center.

Course No. ZT-RITE
The R.I.T.E. training course is designed for technicians who will be repairing, inspecting and testing MSA portable instruments.
- Explain theory of operation for MSA portable instruments
- Demonstrate disassembly, re-assembly and configuration process
- Demonstrate calibration and functional test procedures
- Demonstrate upgrade procedures
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures
- Up to 1.5 Days of hands-on instruction by an MSA factory trained instructor
- The MSA R.I.T.E. program training binder, service manuals, drawings and instrument specific files
- Access to the MSA R.I.T.E. program website
- Lunch and refreshments during the breaks in the training
- MSA R.I.T.E. Certificate for the organization
1 Day Recertification Class
Course No. ZT-RITE-R
This Recertification training course is designed for technicians who require R.I.T.E. recertification for repairing, inspecting and testing MSA portable instruments.
Selected individuals will need to be employed by an MSA Channel Partner or by an end user organization that wishes to self-maintain a significant installation of MSA equipment.
- Explain theory of operation for MSA portable instruments
- Demonstrate disassembly, re-assembly and configuration process
- Demonstrate calibration and functional test procedures
- Demonstrate upgrade procedures
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures
- Up to 8 hours of hands-on instruction by an MSA factory trained instructor
- The MSA R.I.T.E. program training binder, service manuals, drawings and instrument specific files
- Access to the MSA R.I.T.E. program website
- Lunch and refreshments during the breaks in the training
- MSA R.I.T.E. Certificate for the organization
